DAVID BOARDER began piano lessons when he was six and the organ when he could reach the pedals. His first teacher was Glyn Davis, organist at Marlow Parish Church.

At Liverpool University David studied with Caleb Jarvis, the City and University Organist. He achieved ARCO and FRCO and was the first student to take the University’s new postgraduate B.Mus in performance studies. After university David taught in Shrewsbury, played at St Mary’s, a beautiful church with wonderful stained glass and a splendid 4 manual Binns organ.

In 1977 David began work with Hertfordshire Music Service where he was Area Manager for East Herts for 25 years. He conducts Broxbourne Chorus, Royston Choral Society, Bishop's Stortford Choral Society, Choir18, East Herts Youth Orchestra and the A10 Orchestra.

David has performed over 90 organ recitals in the past ten years, locally and in Bristol (St Mary Redcliffe and St Stephens), Southwark and Newcastle Cathedrals, Dore Abbey, Christchurch Priory, Shrewsbury, Kings Lynn, Hay-on-Wye, Warminster, Great Yarmouth, Cromer and Croydon.

David has played for Priory Singers and other choirs in 20+ cathedrals over the past 15 years. Accompanying is a great passion and playing/ colouring the psalms is his favourite bit.

David’s house is full of instruments including a harpsichord which he built from a kit, a Petrov grand piano, a restored 1821 Broadwood square piano, a Roland stage piano and a very big tuba. David's latest acquisition is a 3 manual Hugh Banton/Phoenix organ with 85 stops + lots of tricks.
