Davide Mariano (b. 1988) began his piano studies with his uncle. He studied organ at the Conservatory of Music "Lorenzo Perosi" in Campobasso (Italy) in the class of Francesco Di Lernia, where he acquired a diploma in organ at the age of nineteen and later graduated in organ-soloist class, both times with distinction. Since 2009 he has studied at the University of Music and performing Arts Vienna, where he has completed with unanimous dinstinction his organ studies in the class of Martin Haselböck, acquiring the organ diploma and the academic degree “Magister artium”; afterwards he acquired a harpsichord bachelor-degree with dinstinction in the class of Gordon Murray. At present he is preparing the harpsichord final diploma and studying conducting in the class of Yuji Yuasa at the same University.
He also had lessons or attended masterclasses with W. Zerer, M. Radulescu, L. F. Tagliavini, L. Ghielmi, P. D. Peretti, J. Essl, M. Imbruno, H. Haselböck (organ and organ improvisation), G. Murray (fortepiano), W. Glüxam, S. Gottfried, N. Parle, E. Fadini (harpsichord and basso continuo).
Mariano has received several awards including a Honorary prize (“Würdigungspreis") from the University of Music and performing Arts Vienna for his organ diploma performance, 2nd prize in piano at the "Eighth National Music Competition Città di Ortona" (Italy, 2002), 1st prize at the "Fourth International Organ Competition in Fano Adriano" (Italy, 2008), 2nd prize at the "Third International Organ Competition Premio Elvira Di Renna" in Pontecagnano Faiano (Italy, 2010), 3rd prize (1st prize not awarded) at the “Fourth International Organ Competition Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck 2012” in Amsterdam, special prizes at the “8th Mikael Tariverdiev International Organ Competition“ (Russia, 2013). Moreover he has got a scholarship from the "Tokyo Foundation" for the year 2014/15.
Davide Mariano performs regularly in Festivals in Europe and USA as organist/harpsichordist/pianist, among them “Helsinki Organ Summer”, “Roma Festival Barocco“, “Sommerkoncerter Frederiksberg”-Copenhagen, “I Lunedì della musica d'organo”-Bari, "XXXV Accademia Organistica Elpidiense Le notti del Barocco", “Klankruimte in Rood Licht”-Amsterdam, “Ars Organi Nitra”, "Wiener Orgelkonzerte", “Orgel Plus”, “Bachwoche”, “OrgelDonnerstag”, “Liszt Festival Raiding-Lisztomania Burgenland”, in the Court chapel in Vienna, in the Schönbrunn Palace Theatre in Vienna, in the “Goldener Saal“ of the Musikverein in Vienna, in the “Sala Sinfónica“ of the “Auditiorio Nacional de Música” in Madrid, “Auditorio de la Diputación“ Alicante, “Prinzregententheater” München, “Theater an der Wien”, “L’Auditori” Barcelona, “Brucknerhaus” Linz, “AT&T Center Theatre” Los Angeles. He collaborates with diverse groups, in particular with the Orchester Wiener Akademie, Musica Angelica Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra. He has been also heard on radio broadcasts by Ö1 and Radio Stephansdom.
Mariano is one of the performers of the CD “Concerto per la Solidarietà” (2009, EUROMEETING ITALIANA) and has collaborated with the Orchester Wiener Akademie in the recording of the complete orchestral works of Franz Liszt on historic instruments with the CD “Franz Liszt: The sound of Weimar, Vol. 3” (2011, NCA-New Classical Adventure). He has played with the Orchester Wiener Akademie and the actor John Malkovich in the Theater piece “Viennovation”.
